Chasing Aaron

That's okay, I didn't want to go through a whole season without one of these anyway...

* Walk-off loss #366 was the first Mets walk-off loss of the season. The Mets were the last team in the majors to lose via walk-off in 2007. The last Mets walk-off loss was against the Pirates last September 16. The Mets are 6-1 this season in games ending via walk-off.

* It is the 119th time the Mets have lost a game on a walk-off home run (postseason included) and the 24th time they've lost on a walk-off 2-run home run.

* Aaron Sele joins Aaron Heilman as Aaron's to give up a walk-off hit in a Mets loss. Ronny Paulino beat Heilman with a double last September 16. Hank Aaron once beat the Mets with a walk-off home run, on June 13, 1972.

* The Brewers now have a walk-off win against the Mets in each of the last two seasons. Bill Hall hit a walk-off home run against Chad Bradford with a Mother's Day pink bat on May 14, 2006.

* The last time the Mets lost via walk-off on trade deadline day was on July 31, 2001, when Craig Biggio and the Astros beat them with a walk-off home run.

* No other Geoff besides Jenkins has hit a walk-off home run against the Mets, but one Jeff has- Jeff Kent, for the Giants on May 3, 2000

* It was the first 13-inning walk-off loss for the Mets since May 13, 2002, against the Dodgers when Jeff Reboulet won the game with a walk-off single.

* It was the 6th time in team history that the Mets had a walk-off loss with a 4-2 final score. Oddly, 3 of the 6 have been 13-inning games.

* It was the first 4-2 walk-off loss for the Mets since May 3, 1996, against the Cubs, when Sammy Sosa won the game with a 3-run home run against Paul Wilson.

* The last time the Mets finished a regular season with only 1 walk-off loss was in 1999.

* The only pitcher to pitch for the Mets after winning 300 games was Warren Spahn. He never pitched in a Mets walk-off loss.

I'd love to see Barry Bonds to hit a home run in like his first at bat, and then have the game canceled due to rain, eliminating his HR. And then he goes on the DL...never breaking the record :-).
