The last time Billy Wagner blew a save in Houston was against the Brewers on July 1, 2003. He allowed a game-tying home run and a go-ahead hit by pitch in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth the Astros bailed Wagner out, saving him from defeat. Guess who tied the game with a home run.

* Mets Walk-Off loss number 378 was their 7th walk-off loss this season, the first since July 4 against the Phillies.
*It was the Mets first walk-off loss against the Astros since July 28, 2005, when Brad Ausmus (whom Wagner couldn't get out on Saturday) whacked a walk-off double to beat the Mets.
* It was the first time the Mets lost a game on a walk-off sacrifice fly since July 5, 1998, when Walt Weiss hit one for the Braves in the 11th inning against John Franco. It was the 12th time that the Mets have lost a game on a walk-off sacrifice fly.
* It was the first Astros walk-off extra inning win against the Mets in exactly seven years. The last came on August 2, 2001, when Moises Alou beat Jerrod Riggan with a 10th inning single.
* The Mets are now 19-37 all-time against the Astros/Colt 45s in games decided by walk-off (postseason included).
Those Truly Metstrodoomed know...The Astros have 20 extra-inning walk-off wins against the Mets. That's more than the total number of walk-off wins that the Mets have against the Astros, combining both regulation and extra innings.

This marks the fifth consecutive year in which the Mets have played a weekend series against the Astros and the fifth consecutive year in which the Mets and Astros have played at least one absolute nailibiter. The more pleasant ones were Piazza denying Clemens a win in 2004 (homer off ex-Met Dotel), with Phillips winning it in the 13th (homer off ex-Met Wheeler); the game that stayed tied in the 9th in '06 when Beltran crashed into a fence but held on to the ball (and the classy Astro fans cheering when he couldn't get up); and the 17-inning game of last July, featuring our man Carlos' uphill grab.
Also, I despise the Astros and the city of Houston.
It's tough NOT to despise Houston. They played this weekend like their World Series. What's up with THAT? They weren't this good all year. What did Charlie Kerfeld and Dickie Thon remind them of '86?
